Tip 3

Transcending the Ego-Mind

The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly — you usually don't use it at all. It uses you.

Your ego-mind is like a hyperactive sports commentator who never shuts up, always judging and narrating your life. It’s not really you, just a noisy collection of old thoughts. To rise above it, picture yourself watching leaves (your thoughts) float by on a river. You don’t chase them or push them away, just observe.

This creates a serene space between you and your thoughts, revealing your true self as the calm, wise observer.
